I feel in love with this pendant light from Room & Board except I didn’t fall in love with the price–a whopping $399 for a 16″ shade.
I had a bright idea and decided to take matters into my own hands. I’d make my own pretty little pendant lamp.
I picked up my first and most important component to the pendant light–the shade. I bought a 22″ linen shade from my favorite lamp vendor in Atlanta for $50!
My next purchase–the socket–was a measly $4 from IKEA. A quick little snap of the cord would get rid of the plug and allow me to hardwire it into my ceiling.
Next, the pattern. I chose a Moorish Trellis pattern with metallic gold paint. I borrowed the stencil from a friend and bought the paint for $2.
My friend Kathrine and I spent our Saturday afternoon chatting and painting–she made a pretty little pendant too!
Et Voila!

Here’s my pretty little pendant that cost me less than $60!
