Remember my Leap Year Challenge Post? If not, I’ll refresh your memory. Two clients of mine put me up to a challenge last month. They asked me to renovate two bathrooms in their rental unit condo by the end of February for around $5000 total.

With only a little time and budget, I’m happy to say MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

I finished up the final touches yesterday (March 1st!) and can’t wait to share.

Here’s my design inspiration page to jog your memory.

Here are some before and after pictures:

By far, the tile made the most difference. We installed a travertine looking porcelain 13″ x 13″ run in a brick pattern and purchased it from Buy Floors Direct for less than $3 a square foot! I chose porcelain for its durability and longevity, and I selected a nice sandy gray neutral color for the tile that will accommodate any renter’s decor.
I updated the bath and cabinet hardware with polished chrome hardware as well as installing new light fixtures (nothing dates a bathroom like bad lighting). I chose all from Home Depot. Buying from Home Depot is an economic and smart way to save money. While the store may seem to have a skimpy selection, their website sells the majority of main stream manufacturers.  I selected the Prescot Pivoting Wall Mirror for $79.00, towel bars and hand towel holders from the Preston Bath Hardware Collection for under $20 each
, the Two Vanity Light Swirl Glass Vanity Lights for $59 each and the Brushed Nickel Flush Mount Ceiling Light for just $45! What a steal!
A fresh coat of paint (Moth Gray from Porter Paints) was put on the walls. Also, the trim and cabinets were repainted in a crisp white paint (Gypsum from Porter Paints).
It’s amazing what new paint, hardware, lighting and tile can do to a bath. This bathroom is ready for its renters…anyone?
