Do you ever feel like you need a home facelift before company comes to town?

I know that when I’m out of town, I enjoy some of the perks of being a guest–a comfy bed, fresh towels and sheets, sweet smelling candles, a place to put my thingsand maybe a chocolate on the pillow (ok, not really, but that would be nice). When it comes to having guest, I like them to feel like they’re staying at a down-to-earth, cozy hotel.

There’s nothing nicer than knowing your company is comfortable. When it comes to hospitality, I’d like to think that its one of my gifts. So when some friends of mine asked if I’d be interested in helping them renovate their guest bathroom, I said of course!

Here’s the existing bathroom (which also functions as a laundry room too).

Just around the corner of the blue wall above is a bright red Jacuzzi tub. Shoot, I didn’t snap a picture of it. Sorry. Use your imagination.

My clients want to brighten up the space with lighter colors and soft woods and also make the room more functional.

Here is the inspiration board that put their thoughts into motion.

Like most folks, my clients are on a budget, but I know that we could still make their guest bath beautiful. Here’s what we ended up with…
This mirror is a flea market find from Scott’s Antique Market in Atlanta. I didn’t know if the client would like it, but she ended up loving it.

I went with an open vanity designed by myself and built by our contractor. He did a fantastic job!

White subway tile is classic, timeless and affordable. To spice things up, I selected an ice blue glass accent band and a fun penny mosaic for the floor.

Here’s the laundry room.

And with the doors shut, you’d never know it was there.

Here’s a view from the other side of the room.

So take a good look…

This guest bath is freshened up and ready for company.

But for now, it’s closed for business and waiting on its next guest.
A toute a l’heure,
