One of my best friends was in town from St. Louis, and we started out the tour right…

I’m more in love with my neighborhood after meandering the pretty streets and seeing the interiors of the homes. While I loved all the homes, my two favorite homes on the tour were site #3 and #4. I can’t wait to share the beauty of them with you!
Site #3   913 Knox
Home of Stephanie & Reid. I’m focusing on the downstairs. This 1910 Neoclassical Tidewater style home was renovated by it’s owners in 1999. Great job, Stephanie & Reid, your work definitely shines through the interiors.
The renovation brings the house up to date without compromising the history of the home. The hardwood floors, transom windows, moldings, fireplaces and windows stay true to the home’s 1910’s charm.

 

The kitchen is incredible and one of my favorite rooms in their home. The absolute black honed granite countertops paired with the milky subway tile backsplash and cabinets just scream timeless. The white porcelain apron sink and stainless steel hardware and appliances throughout the kitchen create a nice backdrop for the pops of yellows, reds and greens.

   
 

You’ve got to love this guest bath and cubby center! The home’s decor has touches of florals throughout which are evident in this bathroom shower curtain. I’m not a floral kind of girl, however, when done right, floral patterns can be beautiful.

Another key point to note about the home’s decor is the subtle use of contrasting colors. For example, the soft yellows, blues and greens of this rocker and wood post create a warm and not too dramatic playfulness.

Again, you may just surprise yourself by painting your ceiling a soft blue shade. It can add the allusion of sky. So pretty!

Site #4   3203 Granny White Pike
This 1930’s bungalow, home of John and Lou, is incredibly decorated! I asked Lou if a designer worked on it. She said sort of. It just so happens that Lou is a designer herself, a graphic designer that is, which is ever so evident with all of the pattern and color throughout the home’s interior. Lou, you go girl! You have the guts, eye and boldness to pull off patterns and colors that most of us wouldn’t even touch!

The simpleness of this patterned shower curtain play up the browns and whites in this otherwise simple and comfortable bathroom.

Beautiful graphic artwork throughout makes this home feel colorful, finished and inviting.


What a great play on patterns–hounds tooth mixed with a sort of greek key! Love the texture of the seagrass rug and wooden floors.

This is quite a compact use of space. Because the master bath is well planned with the pedestal sinks, medicine cabinets and side cabinet storage, the small bath doesn’t feel cramped.
The children’s room is so playful! I like the patterned rug and artwork paired with the oversized map and one bold wall of burnt orange. Painting one wall a bold color is an inexpensive way to make a room feel finished.
The master bedroom is probably my favorite room in the house. The walls are filled with tons of black and white family photos which makes the room inviting. The walls are painted an ever so pale blue/gray. I like the symmetry of the bedside tables and lamps. I typically don’t like to use a rug on rug, but here it works! Love this room. Just speaks peace and tranquility!

 Oh such a cozy and welcoming desk. By adding a pretty piece of floral fabric, you can make an expensive skirt to cover up files and other office supplies.
As you can probably guess, 3203 Granny White Pike wins the award for best use of pattern and color in my book! Way to be BOLD!
